Turgutluspor responds to 'match-fixing' allegations: 'They should look at their own past'

In the final match of the season in the TFF 3rd League Group 2, Batman Petrolspor defeated Turgutluspor 3-2 on their home turf. Following this match, match-fixing allegations from Elazığspor became a major topic of discussion.

Elazığspor questioned the performance of Turgutluspor goalkeeper Zekeriya, alleging that some of the goals in the match were intentionally conceded.

According to the allegations, Zekeriya had deliberately sent the ball into his own net with his hands.

However, Turgutluspor issued a stern statement rejecting these accusations.

In the written statement issued by Turgutluspor, emphasis was placed on the club's values and history:

Whether Turgutluspor wins or loses, it has existed with honor and dignity, and it will continue to exist with its honorable stance. Our players took the field for the final match of the league against Batman Petrolspor—a match where the outcome did not concern us at all—with this mindset, played with honor, fought with this mindset for 90 minutes, and shook the hand of their winning opponent at the end of the match before leaving the pitch. Just as it has been in the past, it will always be this way from now on.

Our players, who fought in accordance with our club's ethical rules for as long as they were on the field, have been subjected to implications and accusations by both the Elazığspor Club and social media accounts close to Elazığspor that do not fit sportsmanship or ethics and clearly constitute a crime. Everyone, just like us, displays the attitude that suits them."
