Türkiye becomes number 1 in Europe
In the power rankings published by FIBA, Türkiye has climbed to the top spot among countries competing in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup European Qualifiers. The Crescent-Stars secured their second consecutive victory in the qualifiers against Switzerland.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced the power rankings for countries participating in the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup European Qualifiers via its social media account. In the list shared on its US-based Instagram account, Türkiye rose to the first place among all participants on the European continent.
In the announced rankings, Germany, Greece, Serbia, and Spain followed Türkiye in the top 5.
Türkiye's rise to the top of the list was driven by its successful performance in the qualifiers. The A National Men's Basketball Team, competing to qualify for the tournament to be held in Qatar—the host of the 2027 FIBA World Cup—made a strong start to its matches in Group C.
NATIONAL TEAM GOES 2 FOR 2
The Crescent-Stars were guests of Switzerland on Sunday for their second match in Group C of the first round of the European Qualifiers. The national team won the match 85-60, securing its second consecutive victory in the group and continuing its path undefeated.
