Tuzlaspor announces Philip Gameli Awuku is being held hostage in Ghana

A crisis is unfolding at Tuzlaspor, a team in the Trendyol 1st League, regarding Philip Gameli Awuku.

A statement has been released by Tuzlaspor regarding Philip Gameli Awuku, who was called up to the Ghana National Team but has been unable to return to Turkey following the international break.

Tuzlaspor announced that the player cannot return to Turkey because he has not been granted a visa. Reminding that Philip Gameli Awuku has been unable to play in 3 official matches held over 15 days, Tuzlaspor expressed its frustration with the TFF.

"Our licensed player at Tuzlaspor A.Ş., Philip Gameli Awuku, was invited to the Ghana National Team, but following the international match break, the Turkish Embassy in Ghana has not permitted his return to our country. Why was a visa not granted? Is there an explanation for why a visa was not granted? Will the embassy compensate for our grievances? Calls have not been answered. Our player has been unable to play in 3 official matches within 15 days. The necessary information has been provided to the Turkish Football Federation by our club; why has our football federation remained silent? We have sent the necessary documents to the Ghanaian embassy. We expect the relevant authorities to take action to resolve our club's grievances."
