U19 Crisis: Coaching staff boycotts match, President reacts to players!

Serik Belediyespor President İbrahim Şahin, whose team competes in the TFF 2nd League, has made statements regarding his team taking the field with the U19 squad.

In a statement on his social media account, Şahin said, "The group of players who declared 'We will not take the field or play the match' and did not join the camp arrived at the stadium 2 hours before the match saying, 'We will play.' We have tried to keep the club afloat under difficult conditions until now. The statements made against me by a club are baseless, unfounded, and regrettable."

Emphasizing that the players should focus on the match and not cast a shadow over it, Şahin noted that they had received reports that the players were being called and told things like incentive bonuses, and were being urged to take the field.

Stressing that they have proceeded with decency and honor until now, Şahin stated the following:

"We will never break from this line. The claims that 'we could not find anyone to talk to' do not reflect the truth. Negotiations were held, and the 1 remaining bonus payment would have been made by me on Friday. With the statement they made on Thursday, they have trampled not on the club, but on their own interests and football itself. Both the first team and our U-teams are ours. We want those we trust to be on the field."

Serik Belediyespor Head Coach Cem Kavçak, on the other hand, stated, "Because we do not want our names to be involved in the suspicious environment that will arise due to the board of directors' decision to take the field with the U19 team for the Esenler Erok match, which will directly affect the championship, we, as the technical staff, have also decided not to take part in the match."
