Election call to the TFF from the Union of Clubs!
The Union of Clubs has issued a statement regarding the TFF elections, calling for the election to be moved to June.
The Union of Clubs has released a statement regarding the TFF election.
The statement said, "We believe it is essential that the elective general assembly date, which was announced by the President of the Turkish Football Federation to be held on July 18, be held in the first week of June."
Here is the statement issued by the Union of Clubs:
"We believe it is essential that the elective general assembly date, which was announced by the President of the Turkish Football Federation to be held on July 18, be held in the first week of June for the reasons we share below.
In our country, the football season generally closes at the end of May each year, and for our clubs that will play in the European Cup qualifiers, football activities resume at the latest by the end of June. Given this, all new season planning must be carried out in accordance with this calendar. Because;
1. The financial calendar year for sports clubs is between May 31 and June 1. In this context, it is an inevitable reality that the changes required in the Club Licensing and Financial Sustainability Instruction must be made in accordance with this calendar. For changes to be made for the new season in these matters, the new management must be granted room for maneuver in accordance with its own perspective, football management approach, and principles.
2. Actions and behaviors that emerge during the season regarding football activities in our country are evaluated and decided upon by the TFF Board of Directors, Legal Committees, and other executive committees. At this point, the biggest problem is the lack of trust in the TFF Board of Directors and other committees responsible for the organization and administration of our country's football. Therefore, in order for the committees to ensure management and decision-making stability, it is essential that they start and continue the term with the same management approach.
For this reason, a reasonable period of time must be granted until the start of the new season for the newly elected management to form committees in accordance with its own perspective and principles. Even if the new management were to make these changes after being elected on July 18, even if it had enough working time with its own principles and perspective, it is not possible to catch up with the start date of the leagues when the announcement and arbitration objection periods are taken into account.
3. Considering that the 2024/2025 football season is announced to start on August 9, 2024; since it will not be practically possible for the new management to prepare transfer periods, league statuses, A-Team lists, and player eligibility, preparing them with the current approach that we demand to be changed will not serve the intended purpose.
4. The determination of referee classification assignments for the new season should be left to the newly elected board of directors. For this reason, the acceptance of the July 18 date, which will not leave any room for maneuver for the newly elected management, is not possible.
5. The TFF Main Statute, instructions, and league and cup statuses, which constitute the management principles of the country's football, must be prepared as a result of detailed research and information exchange with football stakeholders in accordance with material reality. Instructions not prepared in this way being constantly revised throughout the year while the season is ongoing will damage the sense of fairness and justice.
As the most recent example, the cancellation of the amendment made to the 3rd paragraph of Article 44 of the Football Disciplinary Instruction during the 2023/2024 football season by the arbitration board stands before us.
6. The possibility of the current Board of Directors making decisions that could affect the new management while determining the 2024/2025 season TFF budget reveals how justified our request today is.
The chaotic situation our country's football is in is not at a point that can tolerate even a single day of delay. For this, we must all put aside our personal interests and expectations together and hold the TFF Elective General Assembly at the beginning of June. Those who avoid this responsibility today will be remembered in history for the damage they have caused to Turkish football. We submit this to the information of the public, with our respects."
