Uruguay ends Argentina's streak!
Argentina lost 2-0 to Uruguay in the World Cup Qualifiers. With this result, Argentina's 14-match streak has come to an end.
In the 5th week of the 2026 FIFA World Cup South American Qualifiers, Argentina was defeated 2-0 by visiting Uruguay.
Five matches were played in the 5th week of the qualifiers. The reigning world champions, Argentina, hosted Uruguay at La Bombonera Stadium in the city of Buenos Aires.
Uruguay won the match 2-0 with goals from Ronald Araujo in the 41st minute and Darwin Nunez in the 87th minute, ending their opponent's 14-match unbeaten streak.
COLOMBIA DEFEATS BRAZIL
In another prominent match, Colombia came from behind to defeat visiting Brazil 2-1, with Luis Diaz finding the net in the 75th and 79th minutes. Brazil's only goal was scored by Gabriel Martinelli in the 4th minute.
In other matches, Venezuela drew 0-0 with Ecuador, and Chile drew 0-0 with Paraguay. Bolivia defeated visiting Peru 2-0.
Teams that finish in the top 6 of the group will qualify directly for the World Cup. Argentina, with 12 points, maintains its lead in the group.
