Former Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Altay Bayındır had stated that his favorite goalkeeper to have worn the Manchester United jersey was Van der Sar. Following this, the legendary Dutch goalkeeper sent a message to Altay regarding the matter.
In his response to a clip shared on United's Instagram account, Van der Sar said the following:
"Hi Altay, I will see you in Manchester soon and we will chat about goalkeeping, but as you might know, my favorite is still Andre."
Following the decision not to renew David de Gea's contract, Manchester United added Onana from Inter and Altay from Fenerbahçe to their squad during this summer's transfer window. However, Altay has not yet played in any official matches and serves as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Onana.
