VAR conversations from the Beşiktaş - Galatasaray derby released
The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has released the VAR recordings for the matches played in the 29th week of the Trendyol Super League, including the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray derby.
The TFF has shared the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) recordings for 3 matches played in the 29th week of the Super League on its YouTube account, including both audio and video. The matches and decisions included in the video are as follows:
- In the 27th minute of the Bodrum FK - Fenerbahçe match, following an attack by the home team, referee Atilla Karaoğlan received a recommendation for an 'on-field review for a potential penalty'. Determining that Talisca handled the ball during a cross into the box, Karaoğlan returned to the pitch and pointed to the penalty spot.
- In the 28th minute of the Trabzonspor - Göztepe match, following a duel between Visca and Ogün Bayrak in the Trabzonspor penalty area, referee Ali Şansalan whistled for a foul in favor of the burgundy-blues. After receiving a warning from VAR and coming to the sideline to review the incident, Şansalan returned to the pitch and awarded a penalty to the visiting team, ruling that Visca had fouled Ogün.
- In the 33rd minute of the Beşiktaş - Galatasaray derby, Muçi, who controlled a pass played behind the defense by Emirhan, went to the ground following a challenge by Frankowski. Referee Yasin Kol issued a yellow card to Frankowski and awarded a free kick to Beşiktaş. VAR recommended an 'on-field review for a potential denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity' to Yasin Kol. As referee Kol went to the sideline to review the incident, the VAR official stated, "The foul is clear, but the second defender is far away. The attacking player can run directly toward the goal. The ball is under control." Yasin Kol commented, "My decision is a direct free kick and a red card." Returning to the pitch, Kol went over to Frankowski, canceled the yellow card, and sent him off with a direct red card.
- In the 90+4th minute of the derby, as Davinson Sanchez was coming out with the ball from the defense, he went to the ground following a challenge from his opponent, and referee Yasin Kol whistled for a foul. After receiving a recommendation from VAR for a 'potential red card due to violent conduct', Kol went to the monitor to review the incident. Following the VAR official's explanation, "The point of contact is his calf with the studs. You can see there is no chance of playing the ball," Yasin Kol returned to the pitch and showed a red card to Semih Kılıçsoy.
