VAR statement from Deniz Çoban
Following a penalty incident in the second half of the Başakşehir-Kayserispor match played in the 26th week of the Süper Lig, former referee Deniz Çoban evaluated the match officials' VAR conversations.
TFF had announced that it would release VAR recordings from matches starting from the 26th week of the Süper Lig. The VAR recordings of the Başakşehir-Kayserispor match, which were published on the TFF YouTube channel as of 8:00 PM last night, sparked controversy. Evaluating the penalty incident that occurred in the match, former referee Deniz Çoban stated that the VAR referee made a mistake.
"THE BALL IS GOING TO THE HAND"
Speaking to Fanatik, former FIFA-badged referee Deniz Çoban drew attention to the VAR conversation in the Başakşehir-Kayserispor match. Çoban stated, "In this match, the VAR referee says: 'The ball is going to the hand!' While this expression should mean 'no violation,' it actually served as an invitation for a penalty."
