Verstappen takes pole position for the 6th time, Hamilton in 18th place!

Formula 1 World Championship's 5th stage of the season, the Chinese Grand Prix, will see Red Bull team's Dutch driver Max Verstappen starting from the first position.

Verstappen secured the first grid spot by clocking a time of 1:33.660 during the qualifying laps for the race, which will be held over 56 laps on the 5.4-kilometer Shanghai International Circuit in the city of Shanghai.

The Dutch driver, who also won the "pole" position in the first 4 races of the season, was followed by his Mexican teammate Sergio Perez in second place, 0.322 seconds behind, and the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) in third, 0.488 seconds behind.

Mercedes' 7-time world champion British driver Lewis Hamilton failed to reach the third qualifying session and finished in 18th place.

The Chinese Grand Prix will be held tomorrow at 10:00 TSI.
