Verstappen takes the first pole position of the season!
Defending champion Max Verstappen has claimed the first pole position of the season.
In the qualifying session for tomorrow's race, which will be held over 57 laps at the 5.4-kilometer Bahrain International Circuit, Verstappen secured the top spot on the grid with a time of 1:29.179.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished 0.228 seconds behind Verstappen to take second place, while Mercedes driver George Russell, who lapped the track 0.306 seconds slower, secured third.
The first race of the season will start tomorrow at 18:00 TSI.
British driver Lewis Hamilton, who is spending his final season with the Mercedes team in Formula 1, holds the title of the most successful driver at the Bahrain Grand Prix, which was first held in 2004, with 5 victories. Hamilton reached the top of the podium in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
Three-time defending champion Verstappen crossed the finish line first in Bahrain last year, bringing his team, Red Bull, their first stage victory in Bahrain in 10 years.
