Verstappen wins F1 Miami Grand Prix sprint race
Red Bull's Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the sprint race at the Formula 1 World Championship Miami Grand Prix.
The Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix is underway. The sprint race, held ahead of the 6th round of the season, was contested over 19 laps on the 5.4-kilometer track that shares its name with the city of Miami.
Verstappen, the champion of the last three years, started from pole position and saw the checkered flag first, adding 8 points to his tally.
Ferrari's Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc finished second, 3.371 seconds behind the leader, while Verstappen's Mexican teammate Sergio Perez took third place, 5.095 seconds behind.
Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, where qualifying sessions will be held today and the main race will start tomorrow at 23:00 TSI, the top 5 in the drivers' and constructors' standings are as follows:
