Victor Osimhen scores a hat-trick, Nigeria secures play-off spot
In the 2026 World Cup African Qualifiers Group C, Nigeria defeated Benin 4-0 in a match where Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick, earning a spot in the play-offs as one of the best runners-up.
Nigeria faced Benin, with whom they were competing for 2nd place in Group C of the 2026 World Cup African Qualifiers. Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, who started the match for Nigeria, found the net in the 3rd, 37th, and 51st minutes.
The hosts found another goal in the 90th minute through Onyeka, leaving the pitch with a 4-0 victory. Beşiktaş player Wilfred Ndidi also remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.
With this result, Nigeria increased their points to 17 and, with a +7 goal difference, secured a place among the best runners-up in the African qualifiers. Nigeria will play in the play-offs to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
