Wesley Sneijder's reaction to Mourinho regarding Fenerbahçe
Former Galatasaray player Wesley Sneijder criticized the statements made by Jose Mourinho after his departure from Fenerbahçe.
Wesley Sneijder reacted to the statements made by Jose Mourinho after leaving Fenerbahçe. Sneijder stated that it was wrong for Mourinho to describe Fenerbahçe as "below his level." The former Dutch footballer said, "I love that man and I still have a special bond with him. I wish him the best. We had good times together. It lasted a very short time, but it feels like we worked together for years. It is not smart to say something like that. He knew this beforehand. He shouldn't have said something like that. Especially in Turkey, they won't welcome this. It's a real shame."
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho had signed a contract with Benfica after leaving Fenerbahçe. His tenure at Fenerbahçe was terminated after being eliminated from the Champions League. Mourinho had evaluated his move to Fenerbahçe as a mistake, stating, "For me, the context is to be a manager at one of the biggest clubs in the world. My career has been rich, I have managed in different countries, I made a wrong decision, but I have no regrets. However, I am aware of what we did well and what we did poorly. I made a mistake by going to Fenerbahçe, but I did my best until the last day. Managing Benfica means returning to my own level."
