WHO IS ADEM BONA?

Adem Bona was born on March 28, 2003, in Lagos, Nigeria, as the youngest of five children. Growing up playing football, Bona turned to basketball due to his height. He often played basketball on makeshift hoops in the fields, sometimes even without a ball. After playing basketball for about a year, a video of him caught the attention of Turkish coach Türkay Çakıroğlu. Çakıroğlu forwarded this video to Istanbul Basket coach Nevzat Özdemir.

ADEM BONA'S CAREER

Adem Bona left his family at the age of 13 and moved to Turkey, starting his career at Istanbul Basket. In February 2019, he transferred to Pınar Karşıyaka and continued to compete at the youth level. On October 30, 2019, he took his first step into his professional basketball career with Pınar Karşıyaka, playing for one minute in a 77-57 victory against Donar in the FIBA Europe Cup. On November 16, 2019, he played his first match in the Basketball Super League (BSL), scoring two points in an 84-55 victory against Galatasaray. 

On September 18, 2020, Bona announced that he would continue his career at Prolific Prep in Napa, California. A five-star recruit according to scouting services, Bona was considered one of the best players in the class of 2022. On November 1, 2021, he decided to play college basketball at UCLA, accepting an offer from Kentucky.
