Dutch manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has explained the reason why his transfer negotiations with Beşiktaş ended unsuccessfully.
Speaking to the German channel RTL, van Bronckhorst stated that the transfer talks with Beşiktaş fell through because they could not reach an agreement regarding his assistant, Jean-Paul van Gastel, who manages the Dutch side NAC Breda. When asked about the details of his relationship with Beşiktaş, the 49-year-old manager confirmed that there were some teams that made him offers, but stated that he had not received an offer that made him feel he wanted to start over.
When asked whether NAC Breda's refusal of the black-and-white club had an impact on his transfer to Beşiktaş not materializing, Van Bronckhorst stated that this situation was not a factor. He noted that decisions were made after he and his position were researched, and that he is not currently looking for a club, but that he is always open to listening if he receives a good offer. He also emphasized that if Van Gastel remains as the manager of NAC Breda, he already has a sufficient number of assistants.
