In the match between Samsunspor and Fenerbahçe, a controversial goal was disallowed by referee Halil Umut Meler. Meler explained the reasoning behind his decision to the players during halftime.
Samsunspor and Fenerbahçe faced off in the 8th week of the Süper Lig. In the 34th minute of the match, following a corner kick by Zeki Yavru for Samsunspor and a shot by Holse, Musaba sent the ball into the net.
GOAL DISALLOWED
However, the assistant referee raised the offside flag, ruling the goal invalid.
Referee Halil Umut Meler, who reviewed the position on the monitor for a VAR check, disallowed the goal due to offside after conveying his decision to team captains Zeki Yavru and Milan Skriniar.
Despite protests from Samsunspor players, the result of the VAR review did not change, and the goal remained disallowed. Additionally, Samsunspor players also protested that there was a handball violation in the play.
According to a report by Bein Sports, referee Halil Umut Meler stated in the locker room tunnel that he disallowed Samsunspor's goal because goalkeeper Tarık Çetin's line of vision was obstructed.
