Winners of the 47th Istanbul Marathon announced
The Türkiye İş Bankası 47th Istanbul Marathon, the only marathon in the world run between two continents, has begun. The winners of the breathtaking race in both the men's and women's categories have been announced.
The marathon, which holds the title of "the only intercontinental marathon in the world" and is classified in the 'Gold Label' category by World Athletics, is being held for the 47th time. The Istanbul Marathon started at the Anatolian side entrance of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge.
Athletes running the 42-kilometer course in the organization will descend to Beşiktaş after crossing the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and reach the Galata Bridge by following the coastal route through Karaköy.
Turning from the bridge toward Sirkeci and proceeding along the coastal road via Kennedy Avenue, the runners will pass through Sirkeci, Cankurtaran, Kumkapı, Yenikapı, Yedikule, Zeytinburnu, and Bakırköy, continuing along Rauf Orbay Avenue until they reach the Air Force Academy vehicle evacuation gate.
The athletes will make a U-turn there, follow the coastal road again, pass through Gülhane Park, and finish the race in front of the Sultanahmet Mosque.
In the organization, which saw the participation of approximately 42 thousand people, the 15.5K Run, Corporate Run, and Public Run are also being held alongside the 42K race in the Türkiye İş Bankası 47th Istanbul Marathon, where elite athletes compete.
WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The 47th Istanbul Marathon was won by Kenyan athlete Rhonzas Lokitam Kilimo in the men's category. In the women's category, the marathon was won by Ethiopian athlete Bizuager Aderra.
