Women's National Team takes 6th place at the European Curling Championships

The Turkish women's national team, which finished 6th at the European Curling Championships, achieved its best result in the tournament and earned the right to participate in the World Championships.

The national team, consisting of Dilşat Yıldız, Öznur Polat, İfayet Şafak Çalıkuşu, Berfin Şengül, and İclal Karaman, competed in the event held in Lohja, Finland.

THE MATCHES WERE AS FOLLOWS

In the group stage of the championship, Turkey defeated Lithuania 12-4, Scotland 5-4, Estonia 5-4, Sweden 7-5, and Hungary 12-2, while losing to Norway 10-6, Italy 11-7, Switzerland 10-4, and Denmark 8-7.

THEY EARNED THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

With 5 wins and 4 losses, the crescent-and-stars team was eliminated after failing to reach the top 4, but by securing 6th place, they achieved their best result in the European Championships and earned the right to participate in the World Championships.

The national team will take to the ice for an Olympic quota spot at the World Women's Curling Championship, which will be held in March 2025.
