Women's national weightlifting team finishes second at European Championships
At the European Weightlifting Championships held in Bulgaria, Turkey finished second in the women's team standings and third in the men's.
Countries that placed in the team rankings at the European Weightlifting Championships held in Bulgaria received their trophies at a ceremony.
Following the conclusion of the championships held in the capital Sofia, a trophy ceremony was organized tonight at the hotel where the athletes are staying for the countries that placed in the team rankings.
At the ceremony, trophies were presented to the top six countries.
In the championships, Turkey finished second in the women's team standings.
In the women's category, Ukraine took first place, Romania third, Spain fourth, Norway fifth, and Bulgaria sixth.
Turkey placed third in the men's category.
In the men's category, Bulgaria reached first place, while Armenia was second, Georgia fourth, Moldova fifth, and Ukraine sixth.
Talat Ünlü, President of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, made the following assessment regarding the results achieved:
"I congratulate our athletes who became European runners-up in the women's team standings. We could have done better; we are candidates to reach the top of Europe in upcoming championships. I thank everyone who contributed. I also thank those who supported us. We have a young men's team, and they also became European third-place finishers. I congratulate them as well, but we can see even better results from them. I believe our athletes will reach the top both in Europe and in the world."
