Yılmaz Vural: They are being unfair to Okan Buruk
Manager Yılmaz Vural stated that Serbian, Croatian, Italian, and German lobbies prevented him from becoming the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, explaining that this is why he could not take the position.
Yılmaz Vural was a guest on the Futbol Vizyon program with Özgür Sancar on Sports Zone and made striking statements. Vural explained why his appointment as the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team did not materialize.
Stating that Serbian, Croatian, Italian, and German lobbies prevented him from becoming the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Yılmaz Vural said, "The Serbian, Croatian, Italian, and German lobbies prevented me from becoming the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team. They wanted to place their own coaches there. Our administrators do not lobby for Turkish coaches or Turkish players. Everyone else is promoting their own coaches on an international scale. We do not do this. The Croatians lobby for the Azerbaijan national team coach to be one of their own. It seems our football federation does not have these types of relationships. The people of this country should not be left this alone. We have a nationalist mindset, but we do not defend our own children."
''THEY ARE BEING UNFAIR TO OKAN BURUK''
Commenting on the resignation chants directed at Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, the experienced coach said, "I find it very shameful. What more can the man do? Are you going to be the champion every single time? Others are there too; they are working, they are spending money. Success is not just a coach's application on the pitch; true success is the reflection of managerial and economic success from top to bottom on the field..."
''I WAS NEVER HAPPY AT ANY CLUB''
Continuing his remarks, Vural said, "I have never been happy at any club I have worked for to this day; because there is no professional club. There is no professionalism in payments, management, or facilities. The country is far behind in this business. There is no administrator with the capacity to understand what a coach knows or does not know. There is no such thing as a sports culture."
''FATİH TEKKE SAID 'FORGIVE ME' ''
Yılmaz Vural stated that Fatih Tekke called him after becoming a manager to ask for his blessing, saying, "Fatih Tekke was my student. After he became a manager, he called me and said, 'There is such a difference between doing it and having it done; you were so right, coach, please forgive me.'"
