In the 32nd week of the Trendyol Super League, Fenerbahçe defeated their guest, RAMS Başakşehir, 3-1.
Fenerbahçe Assistant Coach Zeki Murat Göle answered questions at the press conference held after the match. When asked about the reason for the yellow-navy team's long-standing failure to win the championship, Göle replied, "The reason for not being champions is very open-ended. There are many reasons. Am I the reason Fenerbahçe cannot become champion?"
"We want to finish the league in second place"
When reminded of his tenure at the club since 2007 and the fact that Fenerbahçe lost the championship in the final match twice during this period, and asked, "Do you and the team have faith that you will be champions?" in the remaining matches, Zeki Murat Göle said, "There are surprises in football. First of all, our realistic goal is the Champions League qualifiers. Of course, we had different goals at the beginning of the season. We lost those. We want to finish the league in second place. We are fighting for this. If there is a surprise, one must believe in it. When you lose your faith, you cannot do this job."
"We made changes to our game philosophy"
Regarding the touches made to the team after parting ways with head coach Tedesco, Göle stated, "We had the opportunity to work for 3-4 days. We made small changes. We went for changes in our game philosophy and our plan. We tried to instill a more patient game and keeping the ball in our possession into the players. It all comes down to our players. They gave the necessary reaction. They tried to do it the right way. Small touches produce results."
"The Fenerbahçe coach should be someone who will elevate the club"
Zeki Murat Göle gave the following answer to the question, "Should the yellow-navy team's coach for next season be local or foreign?":
"The Fenerbahçe coach should be the person who will elevate Fenerbahçe in the most correct way. We cannot make a distinction between local and foreign. When we look at recent years, championships have mostly been won with local coaches so far."
