Zeynep Sönmez bids farewell to Wimbledon in the 3rd round
National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez was eliminated from the 2025 Wimbledon women's singles third round after losing 2-0 to Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Zeynep Sönmez, who became the first Turkish tennis player in 75 years to reach the third round of a grand slam singles tournament at the season's third grand slam held in London, England, faced Russian racket Ekaterina Alexandrova, who is ranked 18th in the world.
Sönmez lost the first set 6-3 and the second set 7-6, falling to her opponent 2-0 and bidding farewell to the tournament.
