Zverev crowned champion at the Italian Open
In the men's singles final of the Italian Open Tennis Tournament, 3rd-seeded German Alexander Zverev defeated 21st-seeded Chilean Nicolas Jarry 2-0, with sets of 6-4 and 7-5, to claim the title.
The final match in the men's singles category was played at the 81st edition of the Italian Open Tennis Tournament, held on the clay courts of the Foro Italico Complex in the capital, Rome.
In the first set of the men's singles final played on Center Court, Zverev established a 6-4 lead over his opponent, bringing the set score to 1-0.
In the second set, although Zverev had two match and championship point opportunities against Jarry in the 10th game, the Chilean racket held onto his service game. Zverev broke Jarry's serve in the 12th game to win the set 7-5 and the match 2-0, securing the championship in Rome.
With this result, Zverev reached the top spot in the Italian Open for the second time, following his 2017 victory.
Zverev also became the first player since 1997, other than Spaniard Rafael Nadal and Serbian Novak Djokovic, to win more than one title at the Italian Open.
