A new era on the Ankara-Zonguldak line: Schedule announced for the Tourist Karaelmas Express

The Tourist Karaelmas Express, which operates tourism-focused services on the Ankara-Zonguldak line, is returning to the tracks for a new season. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the train will begin operations as of October 2.

Operated in cooperation with TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ, the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA), and the Zonguldak Provincial Special Administration, the express aims to combine rail travel with the historical, cultural, and natural beauties of the Western Black Sea region.

According to the announced schedule, the train will depart from Ankara to Zonguldak on October 2, 16, and 30, and November 13. Return trips from Zonguldak to Ankara will take place on October 3, 17, and 31, and November 14.

Ankara-Zonguldak services will depart on Fridays at 23:00, while Zonguldak-Ankara services will depart on Saturdays at 23:00. The express will serve with a total of 7 carriages, including 6 sleeping cars and 1 dining car, with a passenger capacity of 120 people.

The Tourist Karaelmas Express also stands out with its sightseeing stops along the route. Passengers traveling from Ankara to Zonguldak will be able to make sightseeing stops in Yenice, while passengers on the return route will be able to stop in Çankırı and Kalecik.

Minister Uraloğlu also recalled that the express, which made its first tourist voyage in 2025, organized a total of 8 trips on the Ankara-Zonguldak-Ankara line.
