While the visa-on-arrival program for travel from Turkey to the Greek islands has seen intense interest, companies operating between Çeşme and Chios have announced that they are suspending the service for 2 days.

Following Greece's decision on June 10 to increase the international ship port security service fee from 0.50 cents to 5 Euros per person, it was stated that previously sold tickets would be exempt.

However, company owners stated that the Municipality of Chios is demanding the collection of retroactive fees, and as the Turyol, Ertürk, Sunrise, and Tilos ferry companies operating between Çeşme and Chios, they have decided by mutual agreement not to operate reciprocal voyages on October 12-13, 2024.
