The frequency of the analyzed comments was compared with tourist density to create a risk index for the countries. The company's CEO, Greg Wilson, stated: “Popular holiday hubs provide the most favorable environments for pickpockets. Many travelers do not realize that there is such a high risk of pickpocketing in their favorite destinations.”
TURKEY IN SEVENTH PLACE
In the updated ranking, Turkey placed seventh. Attention was drawn to the increase in pickpocketing incidents, particularly in the historical sites of Istanbul. However, experts emphasize that this risk can be reduced with small precautions. Carrying bags in front, keeping belongings securely closed, and avoiding close contact with strangers are among the recommendations. Furthermore, it is advised to be cautious of individuals approaching under the pretext of “playing games” or “collecting signatures.”
