List of countries with the richest cultural heritage announced: Turkey ranks in the top 5

A new ranking, prepared through evaluations based on culture and tourism indices and UNESCO World Heritage sites, has brought together 20 countries that stand out in terms of cultural heritage. The list was shaped by the countries' historical depth, protected heritage sites, and cultural influence.

While Greece took the top spot in the ranking, Italy was second, Spain third, and France fourth. Turkey was placed 5th due to its position between East and West and its multi-layered historical accumulation.

Austria took the 20th spot on the ranking. The country found its place on the list with its location in the heart of Europe, preserved historical cities, and architectural heritage.

The USA, in 19th place, was evaluated for its broad cultural diversity, ranging from the cultural traces of indigenous peoples to its global influence in the modern era.

According to the list, Austria is also in 18th place. It was noted that Austria appears in both the 20th and 18th spots on the source list; classical music, palace culture, and the Habsburg heritage were highlighted at this rank.

Argentina, in 17th place, was included in the list for being the birthplace of tango, as well as for its colonial-era architecture and cultural diversity.

Ireland settled into 16th place. Celtic mythology, historical castles, traditional narratives, and cultural memory integrated with the green geography were shown among the country's prominent topics.

England, in 15th place, was evaluated as one of Europe's important cultural centers with its royal history, traces of the Industrial Revolution, and Anglo-Saxon past.

Morocco took 14th place with its medinas reflecting the historical texture of North Africa, Islamic architecture, and colorful cultural rituals.

China is in 13th place. Structures remaining from dynastic periods, the Great Wall of China, and deep-rooted philosophical traditions were shown among the main elements of the country's cultural heritage.

Brazil took 12th place. The largest country in South America stood out with its colonial-era architecture, traces of indigenous cultures, and rich natural-cultural heritage.

Japan, in 11th place, was included in the ranking with its samurai culture, temples, and unique structure that preserves its traditional texture alongside modern life.

India is in 10th place. Its multi-layered belief system, monumental architectural examples, and status as one of the centers of ancient civilizations were the aspects that made the country stand out on the list.

Portugal, in 9th place, was shown among the countries that draw attention in cultural tourism with its role in geographical discoveries, maritime heritage, historical cities, and architectural texture.

Thailand settled into 8th place. It entered the list with its Buddhist temples, structures remaining from royal periods, and traditions reflecting Southeast Asian culture.

Egypt, in 7th place, was shown as one of the most powerful cultural centers in human history with its pyramids, artifacts remaining from the pharaonic era, and historical heritage shaped around the Nile River.

Mexico took 6th place. Traces of the Aztec and Maya civilizations, its colorful local culture, and historical sites were counted among the topics that enabled the country to rise to the top of the list.

Turkey was shown in 5th place in the ranking. Anatolia's thousands of years of civilizational accumulation, its bridge position between East and West, and its cultural layers from different periods carried Turkey to the top of the list.

France, in 4th place, stood out with its global influence in art, architecture, and gastronomy, as well as its protected historical monuments.

Spain took 3rd place. The broad historical diversity, ranging from Andalusian heritage to Gothic architecture, ensured the country was seen as one of the strongest candidates in terms of cultural heritage.

Italy, in 2nd place, was evaluated as one of the most important centers of world cultural history with the legacy of the Roman Empire and the artistic accumulation of the Renaissance period.

Greece took the top spot on the list. Ancient philosophy, the history of democracy, mythology, and the archaeological heritage spread across the Aegean geography were shown as the elements that carried Greece to the top of the ranking.
