The 11th Frankfurt Turkish Theater Festival will be held under the auspices of Frankfurt Consul General Erdem Tunçer and Frankfurt City Council President Hilime Arslaner.

In the event, which will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tiyatro Frankfurt, there will be 10 plays as well as foyer conversations, workshops, children's plays, interviews, and panels.

The vast majority of the plays to be staged will be in Turkish and presented with German subtitles.

'IT ENSURES THE INTEGRATION OF SOCIETY'

Frankfurt Turkish Theater Festival President Kamil Kellecioğlu stated that they are dedicating this year's festival to Ayla Algan, who served as the honorary president of Tiyatro Frankfurt and dedicated her life to theater, adding, "We will continue the culture and theatrical etiquette that Ayla Algan left us by keeping her memory alive. These festivals play a very important role in ensuring the integration of societies and in living and keeping our values, the Turkish language, culture, and art alive here."

Pointing to the importance of promoting Turkish theater, Kellecioğlu noted the following:

"As Ayla Algan said, 'It is very important for us to introduce our theater to the world.' She had stated that while the existence of Turkish literature was ignored abroad, this situation reversed as Turkish authors began winning awards globally, and that theater had a share in this success. Theater is a mirror in which a person faces, thinks about, and feels their own self and experiences.

This mirror nourishes us with the truths it places before us, and we grow with it. With Turkish theater and these festivals, we want to continue to grow and progress in terms of society finding what is beautiful and right. For 20 years, despite all kinds of difficulties, we have continued to live and keep Turkish theater alive in Frankfurt.

In these 20 years, we have brought over 100 Turkish plays to theater lovers, and we will increase our efforts to bring new plays from Turkish theater to audiences. We are proud and excited to be able to ensure that people of all nations who speak Turkish and German meet at the festival to share life at the 11th festival. We welcome all Europeans to our festival."
