The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) has provided instrument support to music students and instructors affected by the February 6 earthquake through its project, the 'IKSV Earthquake Region Instrument Support Fund.'

Thanks to the fund, which was established with the foundation's budget and contributions from other supporters, approximately 5 million 600 thousand TL worth of instruments reached those in need, totaling 384 instruments.

The instruments, which were delivered to students studying at fine arts high schools, conservatories, and fine arts education departments in the eleven cities affected by the earthquake, as well as to the Hatay Academy Symphony Orchestra, include: acoustic drums, acoustic guitars, long-neck bağlama, short-neck bağlama, electro-bağlama, bass guitars, drum kits, cellos, darbuka, electro-acoustic guitars, bassoons, flutes, transverse flutes, kabak kemane, kanun, violins, clarinets, double basses, mey, ney, tubas, organs, pianos, B-flat clarinets, ouds, violas, violoncellos, piccolo flutes, and trumpets.

THEY WILL COME TOGETHER IN MASTERCLASSES

Another project by IKSV regarding earthquake-affected musicians is 'Notes of Hope' (Umut Notaları).

Within the scope of this project, the French Metz Grand-Est Symphony Orchestra will provide training to musicians in Hatay between 2024 and 2025, in collaboration with IKSV and the Institut français. Musicians from the two countries will come together in masterclasses to conduct joint work.

The 'Notes of Hope' project, which is also supported by leading French cultural institutions such as Radio France, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, and the Philharmonie de Paris, will offer music students and teachers in the earthquake region the opportunity to receive pedagogical training and music education at various music institutions in France, in addition to instrument donations from France.
