Known as the Pink Mansion: İsmet İnönü's house opens to visitors
The İsmet İnönü House, known as the Pink Mansion, will be open to visitors from April 20 to May 26, 2024, in celebration of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
İnönü Foundation President Özden Toker stated in a written announcement that the Pink Mansion is opened to visitors twice a year and that they cover different themes each time.
Noting that an exhibition titled "İnönü and Reading" will be opened at the museum this year, Toker expressed that reading always held an important place in the life of the second President, her father İsmet İnönü.
Toker provided the following information regarding the exhibition:
"He loved reading works in German, English, and French in their original editions. There are up to 7 thousand volumes of books in his private library. You will see how curious and interested my father was in almost every subject, from physics, chemistry, and astronomy to military science and literature. In our exhibition, you will find examples of these books and his comments on them in the letters he wrote to my older brothers.
Additionally, there are the dolls I played with as a child and personal belongings of the İnönü family. Due to the exhibition, which was curated by our consultant İsmet Baydur, who made great contributions to the formation of our foundation's archive and library, and designed by Ayşenaz Toker, the Pink Mansion will be open to our schools and the public free of charge every day between April 20 and May 26, 2024, from 10:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 17:00."
