Trailer released for Rotten Tomatoes-acclaimed 'Late Night with the Devil'

From the producers of Paranormal Activity and Barbarian, and set to be released in our country on May 17th with distribution by TME Films, the writers and directors of Late Night with the Devil, Colin and Cameron Cairnes, made statements ahead of the film's release.

The writer-directors of Late Night with the Devil stated that the film's starting point was the television shows they watched as children, explaining how the idea was formed as follows:

"In the 80s, as children, we would stay up late and watch 'The Don Lane Show', which was Australia's answer to 'The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson'. The show's host, Don, also had a deep curiosity about supernatural subjects and frequently invited all the suspicious psychics or ghost hunters he encountered in the city to his program.

One evening on Don's show, when illusionist James Randi exposed his rival Uri Geller's spoon-bending trick, Don lost his composure. He was so furious that he trashed the set and walked off his own show. This strange moment and character stuck in our minds and subsequently determined the tone of the film we would make."

'A TRIBUTE TO HORROR FILMS'

Explaining that another one of their "nighttime" loves during that period was horror films, the duo said, "We wondered if there was a way to combine our midnight obsessions into a unique and immersive film experience. Since we have worked in television studios ourselves, we were quite knowledgeable about the characters and stresses of that world.

For this reason, for us, Late Night with the Devil is a nightmarish tribute to the talk shows and horror films of the 70s."
