45 million TL fraud: Decision regarding the imam and muezzin detained in loan sharking operation
Four people were detained in a loan sharking operation conducted in Karabük; two were arrested, while the other two were released under judicial control. The suspects include an imam and a muezzin.
The Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime teams of the Karabük Provincial Police Department detained Z.D., O.E., A.D., and A.P. in a simultaneous operation carried out on November 25, 2025. Investigations revealed a total of 45 million 496 thousand 815 TL in financial transactions within the suspects' bank accounts.
During the operation, searches conducted at the addresses and on the individuals resulted in the seizure of a Glock brand pistol, 96 rounds of ammunition, 5 promissory notes with a total value of 2 million 250 thousand TL, 44 thousand TL in cash suspected to be proceeds of crime, credit cards belonging to complainants, and a notebook containing payment tracking notes.
IMAM ARRESTED, MUEZZIN RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station were completed. While Imam Z.D. and A.D. were arrested and sent to the Karabük Closed Penal Institution, O.E. and A.P., who was learned to be a muezzin, were released under judicial control.
