Ali Babacan reacts to investigation launched against TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Aras: You cannot cover up the truth by silencing everyone who speaks

DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan made a statement on his social media accounts regarding the investigation launched against TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras.

Ali Babacan said the following:

"THIS INVESTIGATION IS A NEW EXAMPLE OF STEPS TAKEN TO INTIMIDATE EVERY SEGMENT OF SOCIETY"

"This investigation is a new example of steps taken to intimidate every segment of society. While on one hand you talk about investment, production, exports, and employment, on the other hand, putting the business world under pressure through the judiciary serves no purpose other than accelerating the collapse you have caused in our country.

A democratic state of law, a strong economy, and a reputable foreign policy are only possible through an independent and impartial judiciary. It is the natural duty of our organizations representing the business world to voice these realities and demands.

The government must stop using the judiciary as a stick to silence civil society and professional organizations.

What disrupts public peace is not criticizing the government's practices, but attempting to label and punish every criticism made as being capable of disrupting public peace.

Turning everyone in the country into a usual suspect through abstract and subjective assessments means the bankruptcy of the rule of law.

You cannot cover up the truth by silencing everyone who speaks. You cannot silence people by opening investigations into everyone who speaks."
