It has been reported that police teams responding to a report at an address in Istanbul's Zeytinburnu district were fired upon. With the intervention of the teams, the suspect who opened fire was neutralized after being shot in the leg.
The incident occurred around 23:00 on 2. Bağ Yolu Street in the Veliefendi neighborhood. According to allegations, teams from the Zeytinburnu District Police Department's Public Order Bureau went to an apartment on the street following a report.
Upon reaching the address, the teams identified themselves as police and told the individuals inside to open the door. After the door was not opened, one of the suspects opened the door and fired at the police teams.
The suspect who opened fire was wounded in the leg after the police teams returned fire. The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital by ambulance following initial intervention by medical teams dispatched to the scene.
The other person at the address was apprehended and taken into custody by police teams. Following the incident, a security cordon was set up on the street, and crime scene investigation teams conducted work in the area.
During the search conducted in the house, the handgun stated to have been used by the suspect and ammunition were seized. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
