Arzu Kaya, who posted a video on social media saying 'I don't want to die': 'He was arrested, but if he is released, he will kill me'

Following the plea for help from Arzu Kaya, who said "I don't want to die" in a video she shared on social media, Kadir A., who had been subjecting Arzu Kaya to violence and blackmail for two years, was arrested in Mersin on March 30. Speaking to 12punto, Arzu Kaya said, "I don't want to die," and requested support from the public.

Arzu Kaya described the violence she was subjected to and the complaints she filed against the individual during this process:

"He tried to sell me, forced me to drink alcohol and take drugs. He filmed videos of me and blackmailed me. He was constantly using violence. He would choke me, try to throw me out of the window, lock the door on me, and take my phone from my hand. He threatened me with my children. When I objected, he would say, 'You know what will happen if you go against what I say.' I filed a complaint after I was subjected to violence. He walked around freely, and I was sent to a women's shelter. That wasn't enough; he came there and found me as if he had placed me there himself. I wrote a complaint petition even while I was there."

AUTHORITIES: "WE CANNOT FIND THE INDIVIDUAL, WE COULD NOT ATTACH THE ANKLET"

Stating that she did not receive a response from the authorities for a long time, Arzu Kaya said that she received a response to one of the petitions she filed. Kaya stated that the response mentioned that an electronic monitoring anklet should be attached to the individual, but said that this anklet could never be attached because the individual could not be found:

"Only the first of the complaint petitions I filed received a response, and a decision was made to attach an electronic anklet to the individual. However, later they told me, 'We cannot find the individual, so we could not have it attached.' I was very scared when I received this answer. I had reached a point where my life was over. I was constantly filing complaint petitions, but there was no progress. During this process, this individual would call me to his side through blackmail and make statements like, 'You are my property, you will do whatever I say.' I thought, 'What can I do?' and decided to record a video."

"IF HE IS RELEASED, HE COULD KILL ME"

Stating that the individual named Kadir A. was arrested in Mersin on March 30 after she shared her plea for help on social media, Arzu Kaya said that this arrest would not be a solution and that Kadir A. should receive the punishment he deserves:

"Yes, he was caught, but this is not the final solution because I don't know how long he will stay inside. I want him to receive the highest possible sentence. I don't want anyone to experience what I have lived through. I felt relieved because he was caught, but a decision has not been made yet. During this process, the individual's relatives reached out to my relatives and said, 'We will play new games, it is our turn to play.' If he is released without receiving a heavy sentence, he will not go to prison. If he is released, he could kill me; I would lose my life."
