Attention Istanbul residents! Metro line to be closed for 2 days
The M5 Üsküdar–Samandıra Metro Line will temporarily suspend services on January 24 and 25 due to mandatory testing and integration work required for the Samandıra Merkez–Sultanbeyli extension. During this period, passengers will be transported along the route by IETT buses.
Metro İstanbul has announced that the M5 Üsküdar–Samandıra Metro Line will be closed throughout the weekend due to mandatory tests to be conducted on the Sultanbeyli extension, which is planned to open for service soon.
SERVICES SUSPENDED OVER THE WEEKEND
According to the statement, the M5 line will not carry passengers on Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25, due to tests being conducted as part of the integration work for the Samandıra Merkez–Sultanbeyli extension. Metro operations will not be available on the line during these dates, including night services.
TRANSPORTATION TO BE PROVIDED BY IETT BUSES
Metro İstanbul stated that IETT buses will operate along the route while the line is closed to ensure passengers do not experience any inconvenience. It was noted that the bus services are planned to cover the Night Metro hours as well.
TRAVEL TIME TO DROP TO 50 MINUTES
In the announcement made by Metro İstanbul, it was emphasized that the travel time between Üsküdar and Sultanbeyli will be significantly reduced once the extension phase is put into service. The institution's statement included the following:
"With the opening of the Samandıra Merkez-Sultanbeyli extension, the travel time between Üsküdar and Sultanbeyli will decrease from 150 minutes to 50 minutes. Due to mandatory tests to be conducted as part of the integration work for the extension, an operational adjustment will be made on the M5 Üsküdar-Samandıra Metro Line on the specified dates.
In this context; the line will be temporarily closed to operations as of 00:00 on Friday, January 23; service will not be available on Saturday, January 24, and Sunday, January 25, and Night Metro service will not be provided on these days; the line will reopen for operations as of 06:00 on Monday, January 26. During this period, transportation will be provided by IETT buses along the line route, covering the duration of the Night Metro services."
