Beggar's daily earnings surprise everyone

Elazığ Municipality Municipal Police Department teams, in cooperation with the police, carried out an operation against beggars.

Within the framework of the efforts, beggars who particularly preferred areas in front of mosques and locations heavily used by people were caught one by one. The beggars collected by the teams were brought to the municipal police checkpoint and searched. During the searches, exactly 10,780 liras were found on just one beggar. After counting the money found on the beggar, the teams processed it and confiscated it. Administrative proceedings were initiated against the beggars under the Law on Misdemeanors. It was learned that the beggar had collected the 10,780 liras in one day.

Providing information about the beggar operation, Elazığ Municipality Municipal Police Chief Kadir Temur stated, "In the beggar operation we conducted today together with the Provincial Security Directorate teams, an individual begging on Gazi Street was caught and brought to the police station. As a result of the body searches, 10,780 liras were found on the individual. A report was drawn up in the name of the individual and recorded; furthermore, an administrative assessment report was issued against the individual. We would like to say the following to our citizens: You see the daily earnings of people who exploit the religious sentiments of our people. He earned 10,780 liras in one day. Our request to our citizens is not to provide assistance to such people. Let them help those in need. When we take a beggar, our citizens intervene and tell us not to interfere, but the daily earnings of someone who has no job is 10,780 liras. These individuals earn in one day what a citizen working for minimum wage earns in a month."
