Bread price hike in Rize
Güven Aksoy, President of the Bakers' Chamber of the Rize Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, stated that the 250-gram loaf of bread, previously sold for 10 liras, will be sold for 12.5 TL starting June 21.

Following the evaluation of the price hike request by the Bakers' Chamber of the Rize Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, it was decided that the 250-gram loaf of bread, previously sold for 10 TL, will be sold for 12.5 TL starting June 21.
Güven Aksoy, President of the Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, said the following in his statement:
"The Rize Bakers' Chamber submitted a request to our Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen to adjust the price of bread, which is sold at 10 TL for 250 grams—meaning 40 TL per kilogram—to 12.50 TL for 250 grams, which is a 25 percent increase, making it 50 TL per kilogram. Necessary commission work was carried out with the participation of our Rize Provincial Directorate of Trade, our Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Rize Municipality, our district municipalities, the Rize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, our district Chambers of Tradesmen, and relevant institutions that were invited.
After correspondence with the relevant ministry, the requested bread price was sent by our Union of Chambers of Tradesmen to the relevant institutions, organizations, and our chambers to be implemented on June 1, 2024. Before the price implementation, as the Rize Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Rize Union of Chambers of Tradesmen, we visited our Governor, Mr. İhsan Selim Baydaş, to inform him about the matter and receive his opinions.
With the 'approval' of our Governor, we decided to implement the bread price hike after the upcoming Eid al-Adha, on Friday, June 21, 2024."
