Çatalca Mufti remains in the spotlight! A message to Erbaş via a book

Çatalca Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu, who drew backlash for his insulting post about artist Volkan Konak—who passed away after falling ill while performing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus—has now targeted the book titled "The Sword and Shield of Power: Erbaş's Diyanet."

Mehmetalioğlu shared the book's cover photo on his social media account and used striking language directed at the President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş. The Mufti sent a message to Erbaş, stating, "Our enemy is the same. But we are busy tripping each other up."

HE SAID "HE DROPPED DEAD" FOR KONAK

Following Volkan Konak's passing, Mehmetalioğlu had written in a social media post, "He dropped dead on stage. Now they will ask us; how did you know him? Our answer is this. This is how we knew him. For us, he who drinks burns for us, of course." This post drew significant public backlash.

Following the mounting reactions, the Presidency of Religious Affairs announced that an administrative investigation had been launched into Mehmetalioğlu. The statement indicated that the necessary review had been initiated regarding allegations concerning certain social media posts by Istanbul Çatalca District Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu.

Additionally, the Çatalca Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into the matter. It has been reported that the investigation is being conducted by Chief Prosecutor Yunus Tunç and that the Mufti's mobile phone has been seized.
