Curious moments at Sabiha Gökçen Airport: A fox enters the taxiway

An unusual incident occurred at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The pilot of a passenger plane preparing for takeoff noticed a fox wandering on the taxiway and immediately reported the situation to the air traffic control tower.

PILOT ISSUED RADIO WARNING

The incident took place on the airport apron while the plane was positioning to taxi. The observant pilot, upon seeing a fox passing on the right side of the aircraft, informed the control tower via radio. The pilot's words, "Before entrance N, a fox is wandering on taxiway D. I called to inform you, it passed to our right side," were reflected in the radio recordings.

ACTION TAKEN

Following the pilot's warning, airport apron personnel were put on alert. A comprehensive inspection of the taxiways and aircraft parking areas was conducted to prevent any potential risks the fox might pose. No official statement was made regarding whether any trace of the fox was found.

Airport authorities noted that while sightings of animals on runways and taxiways are rare, they are of great importance for flight safety. It was stated that rapid intervention is critical in such situations, which could potentially damage aircraft engines or landing gear.
