Dangerous chase in Bakırköy, Istanbul: Driver ignored 'stop' order, warning shots fired, fled by hitting police vehicle
A driver who ignored a 'stop' order from police teams in Bakırköy attempted to flee. Despite warning shots fired into the air, the driver did not stop and was apprehended after crashing.
Police teams patrolling Kennedy Street in Istanbul's Bakırköy district signaled a suspicious vehicle with license plate 34 MTC 95 to stop. The driver, whose name has not been learned, ignored the order and fled.
CHASE ENDED IN A CRASH
Police teams began pursuing the fleeing car. During the chase, the car continued on its way after hitting police vehicles. At this point, police teams fired warning shots into the air to stop the suspect vehicle. The driver, however, did not stop and continued to flee.

The chase, which lasted for a long time, ended when the car crashed as it returned to Kennedy Street, and police teams apprehended the suspect. Medical teams called to the scene provided initial treatment to the suspect, who was injured in the crash, and transported him to the hospital.
To prevent a second accident on the street, police teams closed the road to vehicle traffic. Incoming vehicles were directed to the side road. Police teams conducted a detailed inspection of the vehicle seized after the crash.
The car used by the suspect and the police vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the scene by tow trucks. After the road was cleared, the police reopened the street to traffic.
Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
