Details of the fire tragedy in Karabük emerge: He left prison on leave and set his wife's house on fire

The fire that occurred yesterday in Karabük has left a tragic story in its wake. A couple lost their lives in a horrific incident following an argument in a fire that broke out on the 4th floor of an apartment building on 132nd Street in the Bahçelievler neighborhood. The truth that emerged after the fire revealed that the incident was not an ordinary household accident.

Following reports from neighbors who noticed smoke after hearing sounds of an argument rising from the apartment, numerous teams were dispatched to the scene. In the fire, which was brought under control through the intensive intervention of the fire department, the teams that entered the building found the lifeless bodies of the husband and wife.

HE HAD LEFT PRISON ON LEAVE!

In the investigation launched after the incident, it was determined that 41-year-old Mehmet Derya, who lost his life, was an inmate at the Karabük Open Prison and had been released on a 10-day leave on August 1. It was learned that Derya, who had an extensive criminal record, had previously been subject to a restraining order due to crimes such as 'threats', 'simple assault against a woman', and 'intentional injury'.

It was stated that his wife, Semra Derya, had filed for divorce in January due to the violence she experienced. It was learned that Mehmet Derya, who had left prison on leave, went to the home of his wife, who was in the process of divorcing him, started an argument, and then locked the room they were both in from the inside and set it on fire. According to the initial assessment made at the scene, it was determined that the couple lost their lives due to smoke inhalation.
