Drivers take note: These roads are closed in Istanbul and Ankara! Alternative routes announced

In Ankara and Istanbul, some roads were closed to vehicle traffic as of 06:00 today as part of the October 29 Republic Day celebrations.

The Ankara Police Department announced on its social media account that temporary traffic restrictions would be imposed on various boulevards and streets in the capital due to Republic Day events.

According to the statement, the roads that will be closed to traffic if deemed necessary starting from 06:00 tomorrow morning are listed as follows:

"The entire section of Atatürk Boulevard between Kuğulu Junction and Ulus Square and all roads leading to it in both directions; the section of İsmet İnönü Boulevard between Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak Street and Akay Junction and all roads leading to it in both directions; the section of GMK Boulevard between July 15 Kızılay National Will Square and Anadolu Square and all roads leading to it in both directions; all variants providing connection from Talatpaşa Boulevard and Hippodrome Street to Republic Street; the section of Dikmen Street between July 15 Martyrs' Square and the intersection with Çetin Emeç Boulevard and all roads leading to it in both directions; all variants providing connection from Republic Street to Talatpaşa Boulevard and Hippodrome Street; the entirety of İstiklal Street and all roads leading to it in both directions; the section of Istanbul Street between Kazım Karabekir Street and İstiklal Street and all roads leading to it in both directions."

Furthermore, the statement indicated that the section of Republic Street between Ulus Square and the Train Station Junction, Çankırı Street, the section of Ziya Gökalp Street between July 15 Kızılay National Will Square and Kolej Square, National Defense Street, Youth Street, Mediterranean Street, and all roads leading to these streets may be closed to traffic in both directions.

Additionally, Monument Street, Sports Park Street, the section of Anafartalar Street between Ulus Junction and Susam Street, Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak Street, and all roads leading to this street may be closed to traffic in both directions.

It was also reported that the side variants providing connection from Celal Bayar Boulevard to Kazım Karabekir Street and vice versa will be closed to traffic, and vehicle passage may be halted on the section of Kazım Karabekir Street between Anadolu Square and Hippodrome Street, as well as the sections of Dögol Street between Beşevler Junction and Anadolu Square.

ISTANBUL GOVERNOR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCED ROADS TO BE CLOSED AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

The Istanbul Governor's Office also announced that some roads in the city would be closed to traffic due to Republic Day events.

In the statement from the Governor's Office, it was noted that vehicle passage would be prohibited in certain areas starting from 05:45 on Wednesday, October 29, until the end of the program as part of the "102nd Anniversary Celebrations of Republic Day".

The roads to be closed are listed as follows:

"Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street) in both directions, entrances to Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street) from the D-100 north and south directions, entrances to Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street) from 10th Year Street, entrances to Edirnekapı-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Oğuzhan Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Sofular Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Halıcılar Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Mediterranean Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Akşemsettin Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Ordu Street and Atatürk Boulevard-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to Keçeci Square Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), entrances to the Market Road South Direction Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), all streets and avenues leading to Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), access to Tatlı Pınar Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), access to Kaleboyu Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street), access to Sulukule Street-Adnan Menderes Boulevard (Vatan Street)."

The alternative routes determined for drivers were announced as Turgut Özal Millet Street, Fevzipaşa Street, Atatürk Boulevard, the D-100 highway, and the O-3 Market Road.
