Father and daughter drown after entering pond to cool off in Gaziantep
In the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep, a father and his daughter drowned after entering an irrigation pond. Following the arrival of emergency teams at the scene, the bodies of the father and daughter were recovered from the water.
In an incident that occurred in the evening hours in the Balıkalan neighborhood of Gaziantep's Nurdağı district, a father and his daughter drowned after entering an irrigation pond to cool off.
According to reports, 32-year-old Hamit Ç. and his 14-year-old daughter Gönül Ç. began to struggle after swimming in the pond for a while. Nearby citizens noticed the situation and rushed to help. However, the father and daughter disappeared in the water shortly after.
Numerous gendarmerie, medical, fire, AFAD, and underwater diving teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the intensive search efforts by the teams, the lifeless bodies of Hamit Ç. and Gönül Ç. were recovered from the water. The bodies were transported to the Gaziantep Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following examinations at the scene.
A comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
