Firefighting teams are working to extinguish a fire that broke out at a tire warehouse in Çekmeköy, Istanbul, and spread to a textile workshop. Fire crews intervened with 53 vehicles and 133 personnel to combat the blaze, which grew rapidly and spread to the adjacent textile workshop. The teams have brought the fire under control.
A fire broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason at a tire warehouse with 3,000 square meters of indoor space, located on Saray Street in the Alemdağ neighborhood of Istanbul's Çekmeköy district.
Upon notification, numerous fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
The flames, which grew in a short time, spread to the textile workshop next to the warehouse.
Fire crews intervened in the blaze, which caused heavy smoke, with 53 vehicles and 133 personnel.
During the intervention, intermittent explosion sounds were heard from the burning tire warehouse.
The fire, which teams worked intensely to prevent from spreading to surrounding business centers and warehouses, was brought under control and extinguished.
The teams' efforts for cooling and smoke evacuation are ongoing.
