Forest fire in Sinop brought under control
The forest fire that broke out near Köklen village in the Durağan district of Sinop has been brought under control following intensive intervention by teams. Cooling efforts are ongoing in the fire zone.
According to the information obtained, a ground fire started for an as-yet undetermined reason in the rocky and rugged terrain in the rural area of Köklen village yesterday afternoon. Due to the challenging terrain conditions in the region, direct ground intervention was not possible.
Although the flames showed a tendency to spread at times due to the wind, they were brought under control as a result of the coordinated efforts of the firefighting teams. Cooling efforts are continuing in a controlled manner.
Sinop Governor Mustafa Özarslan, who closely followed the efforts from the moment the fire started, visited the Sinop Regional Directorate of Forestry Fire Management Center and received information from officials about the latest situation.
Governor Özarslan thanked all the teams fighting the fire and said, "As a result of the devoted work of our teams, the energy and resistance of the fire have been largely broken. Our cooling efforts are continuing in the fire that has been brought under control."
