Antalya's Aksu district is reeling from the actions of Nevzat Avcı, the former Building Inspection Director of Aksu Municipality, who offered to lift a demolition order in exchange for sexual intercourse. Following the viral spread of the footage on social media, a 6-year prison sentence is being sought for Avcı.
Antalya's Aksu district has been shaken by a shocking scandal in recent days. Nevzat Avcı, the Building Inspection Director of Aksu Municipality, made headlines after demanding sexual intercourse from a Syrian business owner, Faten E., in exchange for lifting a demolition order. The footage of the moment he made the sexual demand to Faten E. became a major topic on social media.
She recorded it to document the harassment
According to the indictment, Faten E. and her husband applied to the Aksu Municipality while experiencing issues with their business license. Faten E., who met Nevzat Avcı there and learned about the demolition order for her business, was met with a shocking proposal. It is alleged that Avcı stated he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her in exchange for stopping the demolition order. It is stated in the footage that Faten E. accepted this proposal to document it and subsequently recorded her meetings with Avcı.
Municipal officials did not take action
Faten E. stated that she reported this incident and the recordings to officials at the Aksu Municipality but did not receive any results. However, after the footage spread on social media, official proceedings were initiated against Avcı. It was learned that the former mayor of Aksu Municipality, Halil Şahin, also intervened in the matter, and Avcı was dismissed from his post and his relationship with the municipality was terminated.
6-year prison sentence sought
Nevzat Avcı denied the accusations, claiming that Faten E. had offered him sexual intercourse. However, the indictment and the footage clearly reveal that Avcı made a demand for a bribe. In the indictment prepared by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a prison sentence of up to 6 years is requested for Avcı for the crime of 'soliciting a bribe'.
