Former footballer joins gang: Allegations of a 2.5 million dollar heist

A footballer who played in lower leagues in Turkey and holds Turkish citizenship has been arrested as one of the figures behind a fraud scheme in Bulgaria involving a "fake inheritance" lie. It was revealed that the gang, which was dismantled in simultaneous operations, was operating out of Istanbul.

Nigerian former footballer Uche Odimba, who obtained Turkish citizenship and added the name "Arda" to his identity, is in the spotlight over allegations of committing fraud with an organized crime gang. 

According to a report by Ekol TV, Odimba and his accomplices swindled 2.5 million euros from a person in Bulgaria under the pretext of an "inheritance."

Odimba, who was caught in operations conducted by cybercrime units in Istanbul, was taken into custody along with three accomplices. During the raids, forged documents, electronic devices, and significant evidence linked to the fraud were seized.

The former footballer and the gang members appeared before a judge and were arrested and sent to prison.
