Major development in 'Ayhan Bora Kaplan' case: 3 officials suspended
A new development has occurred in the investigation regarding the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case. Three officials at the Ankara Police Department have been suspended from duty.
A notable development has occurred regarding the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization case.
The Ministry of Interior announced that the Deputy Chief of the Ankara Provincial Police Department, the Director of the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime Branch, and the Deputy Director of the same branch have been suspended from their duties.
In a statement released by the Ministry, it was stated: "In order to clarify the allegations circulating on social media regarding an organized crime group in Ankara, the Civil Inspectors assigned by our Ministry of Interior have suspended the Deputy Chief of the Ankara Provincial Police Department, the Director of the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime Branch, and the Deputy Director of the branch from their duties for the integrity of the investigation."
'AYHAN BORA KAPLAN' INDICTMENT
The indictment states that the criminal organization, of which the defendants are members, carried out the murders of Mahfuz Tatar and Semih Arslan on different dates, as well as the shooting and wounding of several individuals, in addition to crimes including deprivation of liberty, torture, extortion, and assault, all under the instruction and knowledge of Kaplan.
UP TO 169 YEARS IN PRISON SOUGHT
The indictment seeks two aggravated life sentences and up to 169 years and 6 months in prison for Kaplan and other organization leaders Fethi Koyuncu, Mutlu Ayaş, Yusuf İzzet Savaş, Kanber Keskin, and Serdar Sertçelik for charges including "establishing and managing an armed organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "intentional killing," "intentional injury," "deprivation of liberty," "qualified extortion," "torture," "destruction, concealment, or alteration of criminal evidence," "assuming responsibility for a crime," and "aiding and abetting a criminal."
The other 55 defendants are also being tried with requests for various prison sentences.
